6th Annual SaskEnergy Hockey Weekend to Happen in Assiniboia - January 18th to 20th, 2013

ASSINIBOIA, Sask. - The 6^th Annual SaskEnergy Hockey Weekend (www.hockeydayinsask.ca) will be happening Friday January 18^th to Sunday January 20^th, 2013, across the province, with this year’s host community being Assiniboia.

Each year, the Saskatchewan Hockey Association and SaskEnergy select a host community in the province based on the community’s need for fundraising for a major capital expense related to their local rink, and consequently, hockey. The town of Assiniboia is currently raising money to build a new rink next to the Prince of Wales Cultural and Recreational Centre.

SaskEnergy Hockey Weekend is dedicated to celebrating and promoting hockey in all corners of our province and to strengthen community spirit. The Weekend is also a platform for fundraising to keep local rinks alive and flourishing. Since the inception of Hockey Weekend, over $400,000 has been raised by Saskatchewan communities to support their local rinks.

Friday January 18th

- Celebrity Sports Dinner with Dennis Hull at Prince of Wales Centre (Cocktails at 5:30pm, Supper at 6:00pm) – tickets available from Mike 642-7479 or Curtis 640-7277 in Assiniboia

- 7:30 pm: Assiniboia Midget VS Hodgville

Saturday January 19th

- 8:30 am: Assiniboia Novice 1 VS Novice 2

- 10:30 am: Assiniboia Atom 1 VS Atom 2

- 1:00 pm: AAA Female Weyburn VS Swift Current

- 4:00 pm: AAA Male Notre Dame Argos VS Moose Jaw

- 5:00 pm: Fiona Smith-Bell at Prince of Wales Centre Curling Lounge

- 7:30 pm: SJHL Notre Dame VS Yorkton

Sunday January 20th

- 9:00 am: Assiniboia Initiation 1 VS Initiation 2

- 10:00 am: Interdenominational church service at Prince of Wales Centre

- 11:00 am: Pancake Breakfast at Prince of Wales Centre

- 11:00 am: Assiniboia Pee Wee VS Maple Creek

- 2:00 pm: PJHL Assiniboia VS Regina Capitals

- 5:00 pm: Assiniboia Bantam VS Swift Current Canucks
