Hillmond Welcomed as Hosts of 2020 Hockey Day in Saskatchewan

The Saskatchewan Hockey Association (SHA) is excited to announce that the hamlet of Hillmond will host the 2020 edition of Hockey Day in Saskatchewan (HDIS). Situated in the north-west portion of zone seven, Hillmond is a vibrant community that boasts tremendous volunteers and provides a hub for many surrounding towns and communities alike. This season, Hockey Day in Saskatchewan will celebrate its 13th year at the Hillmond Redden Arena, Community Centre, Hillmond Central School and even the Lloydminster Exhibition.

The event will take place January 16 to 19, 2020, with a full schedule to be released at a later date. Today we are happy to announce that on Friday, January 17, the Lloydminster Exhibition will host the official Hockey Day in Saskatchewan banquet. Special guests include seven-time Stanley Cup champion, Bryan Trottier and Hockey Canada CEO, Tom Renney. The banquet night is a big part of bringing together the surrounding communities and raising funds for the new rink board project at the Hillmond Redden Arena.

“Hillmond is extremely pleased to be selected as hosts for Hockey Day in Saskatchewan.  As a small community, this event will highlight our facility, volunteers and our deep hockey roots! The opportunity to host such an event will help us in achieving our goal to replace the existing rink boards which are now 32 years old. This project enables us to provide our community, children and future generations a facility they can utilize for many years to come.”

Trevor Shirtliffe, Hillmond Host Committee

On the Saturday, the Hillmond Redden Arena will be the main venue where the much-anticipated triple-header will take place.
